Hello everybody. This is Jason from T-Shirt Elephant. We are one of Canada's largest screen printing, embroidery, and direct to film companies up in Canada and talking to you today about Gildan 5000 t-shirt. We're doing a series on product reviews of all the products on our website. So, what we're going to do is we're going to talk about the Gildan 5000. We're going to give it a score out of five and we're going to rank it in five different ways. We're going to rank it by quality, by price point, by color selection, by stock levels, and by style.
Quality Rating: 3/5
So, right away, we're going to talk about the Gildan 5000 quality. And out of five, we're going to give it a three out of five. Gildan 5000 is not like a ringspun t-shirt. It's not combed cotton t-shirt. It's an open-ended cotton t-shirt, which means it's going to have a rough, stiff texture. So again, this shirt isn't high quality in terms of the look and feel, but there's actually some ways around that. What I would probably recommend, I mean, obviously if you're looking for bottom of the barrel price point, you're looking for more basic colors, you can do that. But if you are on a budget and you have to use the Gildan 5000 shirt to meet your budget, but you want to try to maximize the quality from it, it does come in some heather options. So meaning it's a mix instead of just being 100% cotton, it will be a mix of cotton and polyester. And the heather options like a dark heather gray or heather sapphire or heather red, they're going to be softer t-shirts. So again, they'll shrink less. They're going to feel a little bit more comfortable. So if there's any way to maximize the comfort of the Gildan 5000 shirt, it would likely be to use some of the heather options.
Price Point Rating: 5/5
Now, we're going to go to price point. And obviously, this is where the Gildan 5000 is going to shine. It is the lowest cost blank on the market. You're not going to find typically a lower cost shirt than the Gildan 5000, but you know, that's where it shines. It's probably the greatest of all time shirt in terms of that. It's used for promotional giveaways, used for fundraisers, used for walks, used for low-cost uniforms. You name it. Gildan 5000 is any use case where you're trying to maximize price point, you're going to usually typically see the Gildan 5000 being used, especially at scale. Like the larger the orders get, anything over thousands of shirts at a time, you're going to save a lot of money if you're using a shirt like the Gildan 5000 because you're going to be able to negotiate the best price with that shirt.
Colour Selection Rating: 5/5
Next, we're going to go to color selection. So, for color selection, we're also going to give Gildan 5000 a five out of five. Perfect score for color selection. It's got depending on where you're located, you could be upwards of 75 colors in their color palette for color selection, which is an incredible amount of colors for any blank shirt. And the reason I have color selection as one of the categories for ratings is it's quite important to people. There's some excellent shirts out there that are limited in colors, and that's typically an issue. Or there's some excellent shirts out there that have a lot of colors, but the stock level on those colors are low in some of the more interesting colors. With Gildan 5000, you're going to get a ton of different color options and they're going to be stocked pretty well even in the most unique color options. And why is having so many color options important when you know the vast majority of people are using black shirts for orders or black or gray or white? Well, it's important because brands typically are looking for shirts that match their brand color. And with 75 different shirt colors, you're going to be able to find a shirt that matches pretty closely to your brand color or your event color. So, for that reason, it's a very popular shirt because few shirts out there have a color range that wide and have stock available in all those colors. You're going to have a variety of heather colors you can use. So I think they might have over 10 different heather colors available. They also have high viz colors like safety yellow, safety orange, neon blue. So for your neons, your safety colors, they're going to have all that as well. So nothing really more you could ask for in color selection.
Stock Levels Rating: 5/5
The next category is stock levels. So again, Gildan 5000 very well stocked. We're going to give Gildan 5000 a perfect score, five out of five for stock levels. And this is super important because you want a reliably stocked shirt. That's an important part of ordering blanks. And Gildan, one of the largest manufacturers of blank shirts in the world, this is their flagship shirt. So they stock it in the most colors. They have the most stock around the world. So, if you want 100,000 shirts, they have it. All their colors are going to be stocked well in the Gildan 5000. So, they're pumping out these shirts right, left, and center all over the world. It is by far the most stocked shirt. And on that note, it does come in the most variety of sizes from small all the way to 6XL in some sizes. So, that matters for a lot of people. They're looking for that full size range. In other shirt styles, they could only go up to 3XL, 2XL. With Gildan 5000, you're going to go all the way to 6XL, which is important for a lot of people and gives you maximum flexibility in that regard.
Style Rating: 2.5/5
So, last thing we're going to review is the style of the shirt. And as you could guess, this is going to be a low score. The style of the Gildan 5000, we're going to give it a two and a half out of five. It's kind of got that outdated dad fit boxy style. People use it as a unisex shirt for that reason. This is not a fitted shirt. It's not flattering around the arms. It's made to fit any body shape and anybody. So, you're going to have a thick bulky collar which can be somewhat uncomfortable for some people. It just it's not a flattering t-shirt to wear. Definitely not recommended if you're going to be using these for any kind of retail operation or if you're selling or reselling these shirts. I think there's a lot of better options. If you're going to be buying these shirts to sell to other people, I recommend using some other options that we will get into in other videos. If these shirts are going to be free giveaways, if they're going to essentially if you are giving these away for free or they're part of a promotion, or if you are reselling them that you're selling them for a very reasonable price, then it makes sense. But style-wise, quality-wise, that's not where the Gildan 5000 shines. It definitely shines in terms of price, stock, and color.
Overall Score: 4.1/5
And the overall score we're going to give Gildan 5000 out of five is going to be 4.1, which is actually a great score when you think about it. I mean, we're going to review some other shirts. And I have a feeling that there's going to be a lot of shirts that are better quality shirts that don't rank as well as Gildan 5000 as an overall score. And that just has a lot to do with reliability. You can have the best shirt, most comfortable shirt, a huge selection of colors, but if you can't get the shirt, if it's not available, if it's missing sizes in different color options, then it's of no use to us. You know, if you can get a great color of orange or blue, but when you go to order it, there's it's missing size medium and large, you know, it's kind of a bummer because the shirt's great, but you need a full size range there.
