About Puff Cut Vinyl Heat Transfers
Puff cut vinyl heat transfers are one-colour designs cut from a heat-transfer vinyl that expands when pressed, leaving a raised, padded finish a millimetre or two off the fabric. Weeded by hand and supplied on a carrier sheet ready to press, they come in 33 roll colours, the widest range of any of our cut finishes, and they give lettering, numbers and simple logos a dimension no flat vinyl has.
Each transfer is one solid colour; for two colours, order two transfers and layer them, or ask us to press a layered design. Sizes run from 1 inch to 19.5 inches on the longest side. Puff rewards chunky lettering, block numbers and simple shapes; tight inner counters and thin strokes close up as the vinyl rises, so keep lettering above about 24 points and leave extra space between letters. Priced by finished square inch and quantity.
Every order ships with the settings for puff. Pre-press the garment, press with medium pressure, then let the transfer cool completely before peeling the carrier; peeling hot flattens the puff, and so does a second press with a bare platen. Heavyweight cotton tees and fleece hoodies show the raised edge best. Wash inside out in cold water, hang or tumble low, and never iron over the puff.
Streetwear brands, varsity and team programs, kids brands and retro-minded designers order puff cut vinyl for wordmarks, letters, numbers and crests. For a full-colour raised transfer, see the printed puff version; for a flat one-colour finish, see metallic, flock or silicone.
To order, open the design studio, upload an SVG, PDF or transparent PNG or type your text, pick the colour, set the size and quantity, and watch the price per transfer update as you go. The studio checks that every stroke can be cut and weeded, warning below about 24 points and refusing below about 14. You approve the cut preview before it goes in your cart. Transfers are cut in Toronto and ship flat anywhere in Canada, free on orders over $250, in Canadian dollars with no duty. Most print studio products start at 10 pieces of one design, and sheets and posters start at one. The studio shows the minimum for the product you pick before you order, and the price per piece drops at each quantity break.
A PNG, JPG, SVG or PDF works. Upload the largest, sharpest version you have; the studio scales it to the size you choose and warns you if the artwork is too small to print cleanly at that size. Transparent PNGs give the cleanest cut lines.
