Everything You Need to Know About Custom Fridge Magnets in Canada

Custom fridge magnets are your design printed in full colour straight onto flexible 20 mil magnetic stock, about half a millimetre thick, and cut to your size. They are the promotional piece that stays in a kitchen or an office for years, which is why realtors, trades, schools and small businesses keep ordering them.
How ours are made
The magnetic sheet prints on our wide-format printer in Toronto and is trimmed to a square or rectangle, or punched round, in the size you choose. Nothing is glued on: the print is on the magnet itself, so there is no paper face to peel.
Sizes
From 1 inch up to 23.5 inches on the longest side. Common presets in the studio include 2 by 2, business-card 3.5 by 2, 3 by 3, 4 by 4, 4 by 6, 5 by 7 and 5.5 by 8.5 inches, plus round sizes from 1 to 4 inches.
Two kinds of magnet
This page is the flat printed magnet. If you want a domed metal face with a magnet on the back, that is a magnet-back pin button, made on our button press.
Magnets are trimmed square or rectangular, or punched round, in any size from 1 to 23.5 inches.
Business card, 3.5 by 2
The most-ordered size. A card people keep because it holds up the grocery list.
2 by 2 to 4 by 4
Logo squares and small photo magnets for giveaways, retail counters and fundraisers.

The studio previews the size against your art and prices it live. Straight edges and rounds are what we cut today; intricate die-cut outlines are not offered on magnets.
Magnets are priced per piece by finished area and quantity, in Canadian dollars, with no setup fee. Colour count and artwork make no difference.

Each row is a quantity break. The studio shows the same ladder for your size, so you can see whether the next break pays for itself.

The business-card magnet is the most-ordered magnet we make, because it does a job a paper card cannot: it holds up the grocery list for years with your number on it.

Design tips
Use the same layout as your paper card but bump the phone number and the name a size larger; it is read from across a kitchen. Keep a clear background behind the number. The studio shows the safe area and the trim.
Ordering
Pick the 3.5 by 2 preset, upload your card file or build it from text, and set the quantity; the ladder shows the price per magnet at every break. Reorders are a few clicks from your saved design, and the magnets ship with any apparel or stickers on the same order.
Magnets print full colour on a white face, so files print as they look.
Files
PNG, JPG, SVG or PDF. Photos as JPG at the largest size you have; logos as vector or transparent PNG.
Resolution
The studio compares your file to the chosen size and warns if it is too small to print cleanly.
Edges
Magnets are trimmed straight or punched round, so run a background colour to the edge and keep text inside the safe area the studio shows.
Text
Keep text above roughly 8 points at the finished size, larger for a business-card magnet read across a kitchen.
The magnet stock has a white face with a soft satin finish that carries every colour at full strength and reads well under kitchen lighting.
Photos
Photos print well; there is no colour limit or surcharge.
Brand colours
Colours reproduce closely; an exact swatch-book match is not something a digital process promises. The studio preview is the best guide.
Finish
The finish is the printed face itself, with no laminate. It wipes clean with a damp cloth.
Twenty mil is the standard fridge-magnet weight: strong enough to hold a few sheets of paper on a fridge, whiteboard, filing cabinet or steel door.
Where it belongs
Indoors, on steel. It is not intended for vehicles or outdoor use, where heat, rain and speed need a much heavier stock.
Care
Wipe with a damp cloth. Keep away from strong heat, which can curl thin magnetic stock.
Storage
Store flat, face up, away from other magnets and electronics.
