Everything You Need to Know About Kiss-Cut Stickers in Canada

A kiss-cut sticker is cut only through the printed vinyl, leaving the paper backing whole. The sticker peels off a flat, easy-to-hold sheet, with a border of backing around it that protects the edges in a bag or an envelope. It is the way sticker sheets, sticker packs and small stickers are made.
Kiss cut vs die cut
A die-cut sticker is cut through vinyl and backing together, so the whole piece is the shape of the art. A kiss-cut sticker keeps the backing square or as a full sheet. Same vinyl, same print, different cut.
How ours are made
Printed on our wide-format printer in Toronto and kiss cut on the same machine. Sheets run from 4 by 6 up to 12 by 18 inches on seven materials. See the range on the sticker sheets page.
The cut should match the moment the sticker is used.
Choose kiss cut when
You are selling or giving sets, mailing stickers in envelopes, handing out small stickers, or want several designs on one item.
Choose die cut when
One sticker is the product, it is larger than about 3 inches, or you want the classic shaped sticker with no backing around it. See die-cut stickers.
Both
Many customers order a sheet of the set and a die-cut single of the hero design from the same files.

Kiss-cut sheets are priced per piece by finished area and quantity, in Canadian dollars, with no setup fee. A sheet prices by its size and material, regardless of how many stickers are on it. Shape, colour count and border style make no difference.

Reading the ladder
Each row is a quantity break. The studio shows the same ladder for your exact size, so you can see whether the next break costs less in total than the run you planned. It often does.
Larger runs
Past the top break, or for a mix of sizes and materials, ask for a quote. Business accounts see the same live grid online.
Kiss cut is the format of sets.
Illustrators and creators
Character sets and sticker packs sold at markets and online.
Planner and journal stickers
Small functional stickers by the dozen per sheet.
Product labels
A label run across flavours or scents on one sheet.
Schools and teams
Reward sheets, spirit packs, name-label sheets.
Very small stickers are hard to handle as singles; on a kiss-cut sheet they peel easily and stay organised.
Minimum size
Half an inch on a sheet.
Detail
Keep text above 6 points and lines above a quarter point at the finished size.
Sticker pricing rewards volume because the setup is the same for ten pieces and a thousand.
Quantity breaks
The ladder in the studio shows the price per sheet at every break for your size. Stepping up a break often costs little more in total and leaves stock for the next event.
Mixed orders
Add as many designs, sizes and materials as you like to one cart; each line prices on its own quantity.
Reorders
Saved designs stay on your account. Reorder in a new quantity or on a new material with no artwork to send again.
Very large runs
Past the top break, ask for a quote. We price large and recurring runs by hand and can set up business invoicing.
A sheet is a small poster as well as a set of stickers.
Spacing
Leave room between stickers so each peels without lifting its neighbour; the studio spaces them for you.
Backing print
The unpeeled areas of the sheet print too, so a background colour, a title and a logo make the sheet look finished.
Borders
A slim border on each sticker, matching or contrasting, makes the kiss-cut line cleaner.
Upload each design as a transparent PNG, SVG or PDF and let the studio lay out the sheet, or upload a finished sheet layout as one file with the stickers spaced. Either way the cut line follows each sticker.

Sticker vinyl is a plastic film with an adhesive layer, and it is fair to say so plainly.
What it is
Kiss-cut sheets are PVC film with a permanent adhesive on a full paper backing sheet.
Disposal
Vinyl stickers are not recyclable in household programs. Backing paper often is, depending on your municipality.
Less waste in production
Pieces are nested tightly on the roll to use less material, and every order prints to the quantity you order rather than to a stock run. Ordering what you will use is the biggest saving, and small runs are easy in the studio.
January: planner sheets and goal-tracker stickers. Spring: market season sticker packs. September: back-to-school reward and name-label sheets, the biggest sheet month. Winter: holiday packs and gift-tag sheets.
