Everything You Need to Know About Custom Window Clings in Canada

A window cling is a printed vinyl with no adhesive at all. A smooth static face holds it to clean glass, and it peels off and goes back on as often as you like, leaving nothing behind. It is the material for storefront hours, sales, seasonal windows, event notices and anything you will want to change next month.
Two versions
White cling has a white face and prints like a white sticker, so every colour shows at full strength. Clear cling shows the glass through unprinted areas, so bold, dark art suits it.
How ours are made
Printed on our wide-format printer in Toronto and cut to any shape from 1 to 23.5 inches. See the range on the die-cut stickers page.
The face decides what the customer sees.
White cling
Opaque. Every colour prints as designed, and the cling blocks the view behind it. Best for hours, notices, sale panels and logos with light colours.
Clear cling
Transparent where there is no ink. Our process prints no white underlayer, so light colours look translucent and white in the file prints as nothing. Best for bold, dark logos and lettering that should float on the glass.
Inside or outside
Both apply inside the glass facing out, protected from weather, or outside for short-term use.
Cling is the storefront's reusable sign.

Window clings are priced per piece by finished area and quantity, in Canadian dollars, with no setup fee. White and clear cling carry a small per-square-inch premium over white vinyl. Shape, colour count and border style make no difference.

Reading the ladder
Each row is a quantity break. The studio shows the same ladder for your exact size, so you can see whether the next break costs less in total than the run you planned. It often does.
Larger runs
Past the top break, or for a mix of sizes and materials, ask for a quote. Business accounts see the same live grid online.
Cling lives a long time on the inside of a window.
Reuse
Peel, store flat on its backing sheet, and reapply. Keep the static face clean.
Sun
Inside the glass the print holds well through a season of sun; outside, expect shorter life.
Cold
Static holds through Canadian winters on the inside of the glass; condensation can loosen it, so wipe and reapply.
One inch to 23.5 inches, any shape.
Door panels
8 by 10 to 12 by 18 for hours and notices at eye level.
Sale panels
18 by 24 and larger runs; order several per window.
Logo decals
4 to 8 inch clear clings that float on the glass.
Sticker pricing rewards volume because the setup is the same for ten pieces and a thousand.
Quantity breaks
The ladder in the studio shows the price per cling at every break for your size. Stepping up a break often costs little more in total and leaves stock for the next event.
Mixed orders
Add as many designs, sizes and materials as you like to one cart; each line prices on its own quantity.
Reorders
Saved designs stay on your account. Reorder in a new quantity or on a new material with no artwork to send again.
Very large runs
Past the top break, ask for a quote. We price large and recurring runs by hand and can set up business invoicing.
Clean the glass. Lightly mist the glass with water, place the cling, and squeegee from the centre out to push out water and air. The water lets you reposition; static takes over as it dries. Apply inside the glass facing out for the longest life.
Upload a PNG, SVG or PDF. For hours and notices, use bold type and strong contrast; a line of text read from the sidewalk wants letters about 1 inch tall. For clear cling, avoid white and pastel elements; for inside-facing-out use, the studio can mirror the design so it reads correctly through the glass.

Chains and franchises order identical cling sets per location: hours, promotions and payment panels, shipped to one address or several. Saved designs reorder for the next campaign, and standing orders and invoicing are a quote away.
Sticker vinyl is a plastic film with an adhesive layer, and it is fair to say so plainly.
What it is
Window clings are a static PVC film with no adhesive, on a protective backing sheet.
Disposal
Vinyl stickers are not recyclable in household programs. Backing paper often is, depending on your municipality.
Less waste in production
Pieces are nested tightly on the roll to use less material, and every order prints to the quantity you order rather than to a stock run. Ordering what you will use is the biggest saving, and small runs are easy in the studio.
January: new-hours and new-year sale panels. Spring: patio-open and seasonal menu clings. Summer: festival and event notices. Fall: back-to-school and holiday-hours panels. December: holiday windows, gift-card and last-order-date clings.
