Everything You Need to Know About Custom Bumper Stickers in Canada

A custom bumper sticker is printed in full colour on heavy-duty gloss vinyl, a thicker, semi-rigid white vinyl with a permanent adhesive that holds on painted bumpers, tailgates and glass. It is cut to any shape, not only the classic 3 by 11 inch rectangle, so a logo, a slogan or a mascot can ride on the back of a car in its own outline.
How ours are made
Printed on our wide-format printer in Toronto and contour cut, with a slim white border if you want the classic look. The studio previews the cut before you order.
Honest expectations
Printed vinyl is water-resistant and holds through rain, car washes by hand and Canadian winters. Direct sun fades any printed sticker over a season or two; it is a sticker, not a vehicle wrap. See the full range on the die-cut stickers page.
The classic bumper sticker is 3 by 11.5 inches or 3 by 10; a compact version is 2 by 8. Window stickers run 4 to 6 inches. Any size from 1 to 23.5 inches on the longest side is available.
Shapes
Rectangles with rounded corners, ovals (the classic euro style), circles and contour cuts around a logo or mascot. Shape does not change the price.
Text size
A slogan read from a car length back needs bold type, roughly 1 inch tall on a full-size bumper sticker.
Heavy-duty gloss holds on the surfaces a vehicle offers.
Painted bumpers and panels
Clean, smooth factory paint takes vinyl well. Avoid freshly repainted panels for a month.
Glass
Rear and side windows are ideal: smooth, flat, easy to clean. Keep stickers out of the driver's sightlines and off the area a wiper sweeps.
Plastic bumpers
Textured plastic shortens the life; smooth painted plastic is fine.
Inside the glass
For a sticker seen from outside but applied inside, print it mirrored on clear vinyl.
Not every car sticker should last forever.
Permanent
Heavy-duty gloss bonds firmly and comes off with heat and patience, possibly leaving adhesive on old paint.
Removable
A low-tack vinyl that peels cleanly for months from glass and smooth paint, for leased cars, rentals, seasonal campaigns and trial placements. See removable stickers.
Cling
For a window message with no adhesive at all, window cling applies inside the glass.
Bumper stickers are priced per piece by finished area and quantity, in Canadian dollars, with no setup fee. Heavy-duty gloss carries a small per-square-inch premium over standard gloss. Shape, colour count and border style make no difference.

Reading the ladder
Each row is a quantity break. The studio shows the same ladder for your exact size, so you can see whether the next break costs less in total than the run you planned. It often does.
Larger runs
Past the top break, or for a mix of sizes and materials, ask for a quote. Business accounts see the same live grid online.
Rain, snow, road spray and hand car washes are fine once the adhesive has set for a day.
Car washes
Touchless washes are fine; brush washes catch edges over time, so a white border and firm application help.
Sun
Expect the print to hold well for a season or two in direct sun, longer in shade or on a north-facing window.
Winter
Apply above about 10°C; once set, vinyl tolerates freezing.
Bumper stickers are the oldest mobile billboard.

Logo and phone-number stickers for fleet vehicles and customers' cars.

Car clubs, sports teams, school and university crests, alumni stickers.

Add as many designs, sizes and materials as you like to one cart; each line prices on its own quantity.
Reorders
Saved designs stay on your account. Reorder in a new quantity or on a new material with no artwork to send again.
Very large runs
Past the top break, ask for a quote. We price large and recurring runs by hand and can set up business invoicing.
A bumper sticker is read in a second from ten metres.
Keep it short
Five words or fewer, or a logo alone.
Contrast
Dark on light or light on dark; avoid mid-tones on mid-tones.
Bold type
Heavy sans-serifs read best; thin scripts vanish at speed.
Border
A slim white border or a bold outline keeps the shape readable against any paint colour.
Clean the spot with rubbing alcohol and let it dry. Apply at room temperature or in a warm garage. Peel back one edge of the backing, place the edge, and smooth across with a card to push out air. Press the edges firmly and give it a day before washing.

What it is
Bumper stickers are a thicker semi-rigid PVC film with a permanent adhesive on a paper backing.
Disposal
Vinyl stickers are not recyclable in household programs. Backing paper often is, depending on your municipality.
Less waste in production
Pieces are nested tightly on the roll to use less material, and every order prints to the quantity you order rather than to a stock run. Ordering what you will use is the biggest saving, and small runs are easy in the studio.
Spring: club and team stickers for the new season, tournament parking stickers. Summer: festival and road-trip stickers. Fall: election-season and campaign stickers, school crests. Winter: holiday charity stickers and winter-sport club decals.
