Everything You Need to Know About Glitter Heat Transfer Vinyl in Canada

Glitter heat transfer vinyl is a thick vinyl with sparkle flake all the way through it. Nothing is printed: the colour and the sparkle are the roll itself, which is why it catches light the way a printed glitter effect never quite does. We cut it to your lettering or art on a contour cutter, weed away the excess by hand, and ship it on a carrier ready to press.
One colour per piece
Each transfer is one solid glitter colour. For two colours, order two transfers and layer them, or ask us to press a layered design.
Twenty-three colours

Glitter is the thickest cut vinyl we carry, and thickness fights detail.
What works
Names, numbers, chunky script, block lettering, simple logos and monograms.
What to avoid
Thin scripts, serifs under about 24 points, tiny islands and long thin spikes; the studio warns at about 24 points and will not cut below about 14.
Layering
Glitter on top of a flat or metallic base layer gives a two-colour outline that reads from the stands.
Glitter is bought for the stage and the sidelines.
Dance and cheer
Team names on warm-ups, competition tees and bows, in team colours.
Teams and parents
Player numbers and "mom" and "dad" shirts for the stands.
Parties and weddings
Bride, bridesmaid and bachelorette lettering; birthday names and ages.
Schools and kids
Spirit shirts and camp names that children pick first.
Every order ships with the temperature, time, pressure and peel for glitter.
Prepare
Pre-press the garment for a few seconds. Position the transfer, carrier up.
Press
Press at the card's temperature and time with firm, even pressure; glitter is thick and needs the pressure to bond fully.
Peel
Peel as the card says for this finish, then cover with a cloth and press again briefly to seat the edges.
Fabrics
Cotton, polyester and blends. Test one on nylon, coated or heat-sensitive fabrics, or ask us to press.
Glitter vinyl transfers are priced per piece by finished area and quantity, in Canadian dollars, with no setup fee. Glitter sits in the middle of the cut vinyl ladder, above metallic and hologram and below glow and reflective. The finish sets a per-square-inch premium over the base roll; artwork complexity makes no difference.

Reading the ladder
Each row is a quantity break. The studio shows the same ladder for your exact choice, so you can see whether the next break costs less in total than the run you planned. It often does.
Larger runs
Past the top break, or for a mix of sizes and designs, ask for a quote. Business accounts see the same live grid online.
The range covers three groups.
Metallics
Silver, gold, rose gold, bronze, black and white, the most-ordered for names and numbers.
Brights
Red, royal, navy, kelly, purple, orange, hot pink and the team colours.
Pastels and confetti
Light pink, mint, lavender and multi-flake confetti for parties and kids.
The studio shows every swatch; colours are the roll, so what you pick is what you get.
Pressed correctly, glitter vinyl washes with the garment for many cycles.
Care
Turn inside out, wash cold, hang to dry. Dryer heat dulls glitter, so skip the dryer where you can. No bleach, no softener, never iron over the vinyl.
Feel
Glitter is slightly stiffer and rougher than flat vinyl; on a fitted garment keep the design smaller.
Pricing rewards volume because the setup is the same for ten transfers and a thousand.
Quantity breaks
The ladder in the studio shows the price per transfer at every break. Stepping up a break often costs little more in total and leaves stock for the next event.
Mixed orders
Add as many designs and sizes as you like to one cart; each line prices on its own quantity.
Reorders
Saved designs stay on your account. Reorder in a new quantity or a new size with no artwork to send again.
Very large runs
Past the top break, ask for a quote. We price large and recurring runs by hand and can set up business invoicing.
Type the name or number in the studio, pick the font and the glitter colour, set the height, and each becomes its own transfer. A team roster is a set of lines in one cart; a family set is three names. Block and varsity fonts cut and weed cleanest; bold scripts work above about 2 inches tall.
Upload an SVG or PDF for a clean cut path, or a transparent PNG for the studio to trace. Because every piece is cut and weeded by hand, the studio checks the detail and warns below about 24 points. There is no print, so colour in the file does not matter; the vinyl colour you pick is the colour.
Glitter vinyl transfers are cut on our own contour cutters from the finish and colour you choose, weeded by hand and supplied on a carrier sheet, in our North York, Toronto facility, by the team that has pressed custom apparel for Canadians since 2013.

Because they are made where the shirts are, an order of transfers, stickers, buttons and blank or printed tees is one order with one proof set and one tracking number.

Cut vinyl is a polyurethane or polyester film on a carrier sheet, and it is fair to say so plainly.
What it is
Glitter transfers are a flake-filled polyurethane heat-transfer vinyl, cut from a coloured roll, on a clear application carrier.
Disposal
The carrier and weeded excess are not recyclable in household programs. Once pressed, the vinyl is part of the garment and lives as long as it does.
Less waste in production
Every order is made to the quantity you order rather than to a stock run. Ordering what you will use is the biggest saving, and small runs are easy in the studio.
Winter: dance competition and cheer season, New Year's and Valentine's tees. Spring: recitals, bachelorettes and graduation. Summer: camp names, birthday shirts and Pride. Fall: team-parent shirts, Halloween and holiday-party lettering.
